Catalina Island Kids Camp 2011

6 Weeks of Kids Camp (Ages 8-12)

Venue:

The camp is located at Cabrillo Beach Youth Center, Two Harbors & Little Harbor campgrounds. This great location is on a bluff overlooking the ocean; only a quarter of a mile from Isthmus Pier. Amenities include: Beautiful Sandy Beach, Hiking Trails, Beach Volleyball, Basketball Courts, Great Snorkeling and Cool Cabin Tents.

We begin our summer camp adventure this year at our main campus, Cabrillo Beach Youth Center (mainland) the first night; Introduction & beach BBQ & swim tests the first afternoon and evening! This San Pedro facility is located @ 3000 Shoshonean Rd. San Pedro, CA. We provide the tents they will be sleeping in the first night right on the beach! The next morning we have transportation arranged to get the group on Catalina Express boats which will take them directly to Two Harbors Catalina Island. Campers will also have the opportunity to spend their last night at Little Harbors campground, just ¾ mile from the Two Harbors campground!

August 14 - August 19 Catalina Kids Week 5

Activities:

Fish Lab and Snorkel — Learn about local fish and snorkel along the "Two Harbors Wall", a marine preserve and one of the best snorkeling spots in the world!
Bird Lab and Kayak — Kayak to Bird Rock to explore several species of birds, as well as seals and sea lions.
Invertebrate Lab and Squid Dissection — Hike to the USC Marine Lab where we will investigate the touch tank filled with sea stars, cucumbers, octopus and more exciting marine invertebrates.
Mud Flats — Team work and a beach seine net will bring us many surprises such as bottom dwelling fish, rays and shrimp.
Tubing — Ride behind the boat with your camp friends on a tube!
Free Time — Swim, play volleyball, basketball or beach comb!
Afternoon Skill Sessions — Fishing, boat handling, arts and crafts, survival skills and more!
Evening stuff — Campfires, trust walks, astronomy, nocturnal animals, night snorkel, luau, great fellowship!

Accommodations, Food, and Other Information:

  • Tent style cabins with camping cots, overlooking the L.A. Harbor, beautiful Two Harbors Bay & Little Harbor back island cove.
  • Delicious catered breakfast, lunch and dinners.
  • Counselor camper ratio is 1 to 8 or 9 children.
  • During waterfront periods two lifeguard certified staff will be present to teach and monitor campers.

$ 715 (Sunday- Friday)

Multi-child discount $20 off second and each addtional child.
